ABSTRACT FORM

1981: I had always had a fascination with the ancient art of Trompe l'oeil, in which the viewer is tricked into preserving a two dimensional picture is 3 dimensions.

With my first Tableau Vivant 'Abstracted Form' 1980 I was firstly interested in camouflage and then reversing the traditional Trompe l'oeil idea, and making a 3 dimensional shape disappear & transform into 2 dimensional abstract paintings. It had for me became a natural extension of my other paintings.

1981: Tableaux Vivant
